Take a two-day trip to Lepoglava and Ludbreg and discover the legacy of the Pauline monastic order in this area.
Begin your journey by visiting the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located in the heart of Lepoglava. Inside the church you can see the works of the most famous Baroque artist in Croatia and Pauline monk Ivan Ranger. In the church you can also pray beside the altar of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac who spent 5 years in captivity in Lepoglava.
After praying and visiting the Pauline church in Lepoglava, we recommend that you visit the nearby chapels on the green slopes that house the valuable Baroque works of Ivan Ranger.
Valuable Ranger works can be seen in the nearby chapels: the Chapel of St. John in Gorica, the Chapel of St. George in Purga Bednjanska, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows in Žarovnica and the parish Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Višnjica.
After visiting the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lepoglava, the closest chapel of St. John is just above the church and the penitentiary on the hill Gorica. On the way to the chapel there is a Way of the Cross along which you can pray at the stations. Other chapels should be seen by car as they are located on nearby hills.
After a day (or two) spent in Lepoglava, we recommend that you visit the Sanctuary of the Precious Blood of Christ in Ludbreg, which is about an hour drive from Lepoglava.
