Votive mass of Varaždin’s firemen
The city of Varaždin was struck in 1665 by a catastrophic fire in which much of the city was destroyed. At the place where the fire stopped, the citizens erected the church of St. Florian, which remained unscathed in another catastrophic fire that engulfed the city of Varaždin in 1776.
After that, the church became the votive church of the firemen of Varaždin. Every year at the beginning of May, on the feast of St. Florian, there is a votive pilgrimage of the firemen of Varaždin and the Holy Mass in the church of St. Florian.
